PARANA COTTAGE

LEURA, BLUE MOUNTAINS

Against the Grain Windows & Doors manufactured a range of custom windows, doors and joinery for the renovation and extension of this weatherboard cottage.

The project involved design and manufacture of double hung sash and sashless windows, casement windows, fixed windows, and entry doors. All units are double glazed and made in solid New Guinea Rosewood supplied primed for painted finish.

The architectural design sought to maintain the period style of the existing cottage, with windows and doors manufactured as exact replacements for the old, single glazed units.

Tasmanian oak features throughout the home with custom joinery in this beautiful select grade, solid timber. Joinery elements include benchtops, window seat, vertical batten screen, and recessed full-height bookshelves. Outdoors, Against the Grain's custom timber fence, entry gates and arbour reconnect the property to the local streetscape.

The renovation was completed to current passive design and sustainability standards with the high-performance double-glazed timber windows and solid timber doors making a significant contribution to the energy efficiency and comfort of the new build.
