MACQUARIE PARK INNOVATION DISTRICT

Against the Grain was contracted by Lipman Contractors to manufacture all external windows and wall panels in Accoya timber for this research facility at Sydney's Macquarie University. 

 

Designed by Architectus, the 950sqm build is the first engineered timber building constructed on an Australian university campus, and one of the first uses of Accoya timber in Australia.

 

The project involved manufacture of:
 

  • 90+ double glazed awning windows with fixed highlights 

  • 40+ unique wall units comprising varied combinations of timber panel, fixed double glazed windows

  • Corner and Louvre window units, trims, and flyscreens.

 

Against the Grain’s contribution was recognised with the 2017 Timber Design Award – Windows & Doors and 2017 Timber Design Award – Panels.
