HERITAGE EXTENSION

BLACKHEATH, BLUE MOUNTAINS

An extension to this 1910’s cottage in Blackheath completed by Against the Grain Building & Renovating celebrates the cottage’s original heritage features, while providing the climate and acoustic benefits of double glazing.

Local leadlight artisan Julia Paul was commissioned to match the existing leadlight panels at the front of the home, and her work was then incorporated into bespoke double glazed window units handcrafted by Against the Grain.

At the rear of the home, bi-fold doors and casement windows fill the new space and stairwell with natural light. Dark stained Western Red Cedar was used throughout to match the period interiors.
